Steve Schallert - Biography

Steve Biography Steve is the acting director of photogenX Publish and serves as a member on the photogenX Board. In 2008 he married his wife Diane, joined a photogenX outreach team, and together they subsequently spent the first three months of their marriage in war-torn Afghanistan building bridges of reconciliation through creative expression.

Steve grew up as a missionary kid in 1980's West Germany. As a child he can remember the turbulence of the Berlin Wall falling which would forever shape his youth. In the late 1990's he moved with his family to Western Michigan and began to work along side a slew of youth activist communities as well as art/music-based movements.

After graduating from High School Steve spent five years playing music, producing art, and studied as much grass-roots-progressive-Christian-theology he could get his hands on while traveling extensively. He served two years on the Artist Council of the Save Darfur Coalition, which expanded his desire to let art, music, and photography become real catalysts for social change in a broken world. Steve now spends his time with photogenX using creative media to provoke communities to participate in works of justice, traveling the world, reading stacks of books, loving Jesus, and sharing conversation about reconciliation and non-violence.

Steve has visited over 20 countries and currently resides with his wife Diane in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
